Here it comes

Vacation time is coming!!

We're going to go to Puebla, MX to visit my dear second family, who I have not seen for quite some time. Puebla is the most amazing city, just for the record. It has a strange colonial feel mixed with fabulous Aztec and Spanish architecture, on top of a mountian range that sits 9000 feet above sea level. Its truly a remarkable place.

non-dairy please

An argument against milk....

Gina: Humans are the only mammals that drink another mammal's milk.
Aaron: So?
Gina: Its just that you don't see lions drinking giraffe milk every day.
Aaron: Well you don't see lions building things with their paws every day either.

there he goes again....

....imposing his moral beliefs on the rest of the country.....

I'm not really sure that's really what's going on here.

Bush decided to veto the most recent stem cell research bill. Why? Because he does not believe that it is morally correct.

I was listening to NPR on the way home from work yesterday, and a man they were interviewing (with an important title, respectively) said something along the lines of "Bush needs to stop imposing his moral beliefs onto the rest of the country...lets hope that he decides to keep his vetoing pen in his pocket."

Is he asking the president to pass a bill that he believes is morally wrong because the people are pressuring him to? I personally don't want a president who passes a bill he honestly believes is wrong because part of the country is hoping he will. What kind of a leader would that be? What would that say about him? Our country?

And if that doesn't work for you...

Are you really telling me that if you were president and you believed stem cell research was morally kosher, that you would veto a bill to advance it because the evangelical community wanted you to?

If you were pro-life would you put pro-choice lobbiests' intrests on the top of your "bills to sign" list?

damn the man

I always hated blogs.

But slowly, without really noticing, I started wishing I had a blog.

And today I confronted the idea, "Why would I ever want a blog?", I wondered. "The blog is, essentially, just for the blogger. Not many people care to read what any one blogger has to say on any given day...." Then I realized that was precisely why I wanted a blog. Because the blog really is for the blogger, and not many people will care to read what I write on any given day...but I will.
